Fire damaged the Lagoon Amusement Park in November 1953. After the fire, the park rebuilt itself and soon started to surpass Saltair. After the reopening, many rides were rebuilt, replaced, and a few new ones were added. During the time that firefighters had to work, heavy equipment broke up a pile of rubble that contained decades worth of memories. The park plans to open again for the summer season in 2022.

During the mid-1950s, Lagoon continued to add to its attractions. The showboat on the Lagoon Lake was added and a new fun house was built. Its interior included mazes and obstacle courses, as well as a mysterious room. In addition to the new rides, the park built a mini-car ride and a shooting gallery. The Spider was repainted and received new wheel housing bogies. It’s now considered a family ride. Check Out These Helpful Tips
