The Living Planet Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world dedicated to the continued conservation of animals and their habitats, as well as all of their ecological relationships. The aquarium is a one-of-a-kind experience featuring more than 3,000 animals from around the world, including 100 endangered species and their natural habitats. The Living Planet Aquarium is a collaboration among the University of Utah, The Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Department, and the City of Draper. The aquarium opened in July of 2016, and the public has been enjoying it non-stop ever since. The Living Planet Aquarium is best experienced by coming and exploring on your own. No matter what, though, you will leave the aquarium with a deeper knowledge of the ecosystems that surround us, as well as your appreciation for our wild animals.  – The Great Passage: The Great Passage is both a highly educational and immersive experience where divers swim with sharks and other species at the aquarium’s signature reef exhibit. The Great Passage is also the first exhibit visitors see as they enter the aquarium. – Reef: The Reef is home to more than 1,200 reef fish, coral, and more than 60 species of sharks and rays. The Reef is the largest exhibit in the aquarium, and is the perfect place to start your visit. – Dolphin Pod: The Dolphin Pod is an exhibit with bottlenose and Pacific white-dolphin, both endangered species. You can also learn about genetics and how dolphins communicate with each other from a housing pod that allows visitors to see the dolphins from all angles and get to know them better. – Walk-Through Aviary: The Walk-Through Aviary is an aviary that lets visitors see birds and other avian species up close, from all angles. – Wild Coast: The Wild Coast trail is a self-guided experience that leads visitors from the Wild Coast entrance, through the aquarium’s coastal habitats, to the Great Salt Lake. The aquarium is located in Draper, Utah, just 20 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport.  The Living Planet Aquarium is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hours can vary slightly throughout the year, but the aquarium is generally open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, except for select holidays. Visitors will want to allow plenty of time to explore the Living Planet Aquarium, as it is a highly immersive and educational experience that is not to be rushed.
